Food Stores to Sell Medicine One of Sweden’s leading food store chains, ICA, is planning to open a number of pharmacy shops in cooperation with the state-operated pharmacies. An ICA spokesman said the plans included selling both freely available drugs and medicine subject to doctors’ prescriptions. Another food-chain operator, Coop, has announced similar plans. The state monopoly for running the country’s pharmacies has been abolished earlier this year, allowing private entrepreneurs to operate phamacies in the future.
